Office Christmas Party Ideas

The office Christmas party is more than an annual tradition, we’d go so far as to say it’s an absolute necessity. After a long year of early mornings, a few late nights and a lot of hard work, it’s great to get a chance to let off some steam with your colleagues and look forward to a well-earned winter break.

Christmas parties come in all shapes and sizes, from cosy dinners for small close-knit teams, to lavish celebrations at sprawling multi-departmental companies, and while the most important thing is always the people, we’d like to make the case for entertainment being up there on the list of priorities.

So if you’re planning an office Christmas party this year, we thought we’d start you off with a few great entertainment ideas. Read on for our picks:

STROLLING ACTS

We talk a lot about ‘making the most of your space’ on this blog, and with good reason; events are much more exciting and dynamic when your entertainment isn’t confined to the corner of the room. Strolling acts can really add to the hustle and bustle of your party, giving guests the feeling that there’s something happening round every corner. Magicians are great for drawing groups of people; jugglers and strolling circus performers create a carnival atmosphere; and strolling musicians like Wandering Hands or The Sax Walker offer a touch of the unexpected, along with some great tunes.

CHRISTMAS DJ

I believe it was Dickens who said ‘A Christmas party without music is no kind of Christmas party at all if you ask me, Charles Dickens.’ (Don’t feel like you have to look that up.) A top quality Christmas party DJ can provide that all-important soundtrack to your evening, switching effortlessly between modern chart hits, floor-filling classics and, of course, the odd cheesy Christmas favourite. What Christmas party would be complete without ‘I Wish it could be Christmas Every Day’ or ‘Last Christmas’? No kind of Christmas party at all.

CHRISTMAS PARTY BAND

Much as we love a good DJ here at Trevor George, we also know that nothing quite beats the thrill of a brilliant live band at your Christmas party. A set from one of our supremely talented function bands is often just what your crowd needs to get off their feet and dance off those extra mince pies. Christmas party bands come in a variety of musical styles and range from tight and compact 4-piece outfits, to huge ensembles with horn sections and backing vocalists. But whatever the theme, size or style of your party, there’s a band that’ll suit your event perfectly.

COSTUMED CHARACTERS

If you’re going all-in on a Christmas party theme (and we really recommend that you do) then you may want to consider introducing some costumed characters into your event. Costumed characters can act as meet and greet performers welcoming guests into the event, or pose for photos with guests. At Trevor George we’ve got access to a practically bottomless dressing up box and we love a challenge, so we’re happy to create any character you can think of. Frost-bitten arctic explorers? Nutcracker-inspired toy soldiers? Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future? They could all be wandering round your event to delight your guests, not to mention the most sought-after costume of them all; Father Christmas. (Just be sure to book early, those red suits and white beards tend to be in-demand come the end of the year.)

CHRISTMAS CAROLERS

Finally, how could we leave out the classic Christmas Carol Choir? No festive bash is complete without at least a little bit of close harmony carol singing and there’s a surprising amount of variation in the carol choirs available to book for Christmas parties. From traditional, Victorian costumed carollers singing beloved Christmas songs; to vibrant gospel choirs delivering a more contemporary take on yuletide favourites, we can help you find the perfect carol choir for your event.

Those are just a few of the ideas available for your office Christmas party, but there’s plenty more where that came from. If you’d like to discuss entertainment options for your Christmas party, whatever the size, then get in touch!
