New Act Mondays: Singers, Stringers, Dancers and Frobacks

Stringers probably isn’t a word that anyone ever really uses to describe a string quartet, but it’s New Act Monday, folks, and when you’re looking for a snappy headline, sometimes you have to bend the rules. There’s one rule that we refuse to bend though, and that’s the rule that says we have to keep adding great new acts to our website every week. That one is iron clad.

This week we’ve got a talented young singer, a top string quartet, a traditional morris dancing group and a much less traditional, but no less impressive comedy dance crew. Let’s get to know them…

EMILY PAYNE

At just 19 years old, German-born singer Emily is a talented young performer that we’re excited to see more of at events, weddings and private parties. With a stunning voice and a love for musical theatre favourites like The Phantom of The Opera, Les Miserables, and Beauty and the Beast, she’s perfect for West End tribute shows or any event in need of a theatrical headline performance.

RONDINO STRINGS

The string quartet is the Swiss Army Knife of event entertainment. Sure, you might imagine all they can do is play classical music at events, but then blam! Out pops a corkscrew – in this case an instrumental arrangement of a modern pop song – then double blam! Here’s a tiny magnifying glass – some old favourites from the American songbook. A good string quartet can do it all, and we’re pleased to report that Rondino Strings are a good string quartet.

MORRIS DANCERS

Interesting fact about morris dancing; in 1600 Shakespearean actor Will Kemp once morris danced from London to Norwich in a stunt he called ‘Nine Days Wonder’ and which would have earned a great deal of YouTube followers had YouTube been a thing back then. Anyway, morris dancing: If you can think of something better to do with a load of bells, sticks and handkerchiefs, then we’d like to hear about it.

FROBACKS

Since ‘The Singing Waiters’ became an events staple many moons ago, singers, dancers and entertainers have been locked in a deadly arms race to find new and improved ways to surprise guests with impromptu performances. The latest twist on the formula is Frobacks, a comedy-dance flashmob that go undercover as event guests before bursting into a show that’s equal parts hilarious and gob-smacking.

That’s it for this week, but if you’re looking for more entertainment ideas; be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for all the latest from Trevor George Entertainment.
