New Act Mondays: Rhythmic Rubies, Swinging Twins, Manly Moustaches

A new week has rolled around again, but as this is the last Monday before the Christmas break (and, sir, surely you wouldn’t expect us to go a-trawlin’ for new acts on Christmas, sir!) this is going to be the last New Act Monday till after the holidays.

So we’re going out with a bang with three outstanding new acts, all of whom are available to book for events all over the UK. Let’s get to know them…

RUBY & THE RHYTHMS

Function bands. You can never have too many function bands. Take it from us, we’ve got loads of them on our books and we still want more. But with so many function bands around, it takes something special to stand out from the pack, and wouldn’t you know it; ‘something special’ is exactly what Ruby & The Rhythms have in spades. Call it charisma, call it stage presence, call it a setlist packed with arguably the finest party hits of the last five decades. Whatever it is, it’s all here.

TWIN SWING

If the past is, as they say, a foreign country, then Twin Swing have their passports stamped from all those mid-century decades where swing was a big deal. Even the 20s where you needed to get a visa to go back and learn how to dance like a flapper girl. To keep wringing every ounce of content out of this tortured ‘time passport’ metaphor; Twin Swing offer guests a one way ticket to nostalgia-town with an all-singing, all-dancing show that never fails to delight. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a screenplay to write about a ‘Time Travel Agent’ which, nope… I’ve just Googled it and it’s already in development. Back to writing about entertainment…

LEOPOLD

… Anyway. What’s the most important feature of a circus strongman? Strength, right? Not if you ask Victorian circus gentleman, Leopold, who believes that it’s all about good old fashioned decency. The kind of decency that makes you hold a door open for someone, or throw your coat over a puddle for a lady to cross, or break through iron shackles with nothing but the power of your biceps. You just don’t see that kind of decency these days.

So that’s it for this week, and that’s also it for this year. We’ll be back in 2018 with more great new acts, but in the meantime, keep an eye on our Twitter for a few entertainment tips, tricks and ideas.
