Classic Movie Monsters For Halloween Parties

It’s October, officially the spookiest month of the year, and naturally our thoughts have turned to Halloween entertainment ideas for events. As you’d imagine for leading suppliers of entertainment, when it comes to Halloween we’ve got access to an enviable closet full of spooktacular costumes, but we’ve also got some great performers on hand to fill them.

So today, we’re looking at just some of the classic horror characters available for truly ghoulish Halloween parties, as well as some of the ways you can use them at your event.

DRACULA

Count Dracula was introduced in Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic horror novel, but would later be immortalised on film by Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee and Frank Langella. It’s not often that we’re told that our entertainment sucks, but when we employ this Transylvanian terror as a master of ceremonies, at least we know he’s working as intended.

FRANKENSTEIN

For centuries, Frankenstein has inspired generation after generation of pedants to proclaim ‘ahhhm it’s actually Frankenstein’s Monster, Frankenstein is the creator’. Yeah buddy, I did A-Level English too. What, am supposed to write ‘Frankenstein’s Monster’? Every time I want to talk about Frankenstein? Do I look like I have time for that? What I do have time for is Frankenstein-themed entertainment like towering stilt walkers or a lumbering, Gothic twist on the classic ‘strong man’ circus act.

THE MUMMY

The Mummy has received multiple reboots and sequels over the years – most recently as a poorly-received Tom Cruise vehicle – but the role was made famous by Boris Karloff, who also played the aforementioned Frankenstein’s monster (happy now?) In the past, we’ve had Mummy themed aerial silk shows where the bandages formed part of the act, and even a surprise break dancing Mummy show.

THE WOLF MAN

The Wolf Man made his first movie appearance in 1941 and would later cross paths with Frankenstein, head to London and inspire the greatest Halloween song ever. We’ve deployed The Wolf Man as everything from a walkabout character to a hirsute magician (see more of that here); haven’t tried him as a comedian yet but we imagine the guests wouldn’t be the only ones howling with laughter.

THE INVISIBLE MAN

‘Hi, Trevor George?’ Yes? ‘Hi, we booked The Invisible Man for our Halloween event but he doesn’t seem to have turned up?’ No… no, we’re pretty sure he’s there. ‘It’s just, we haven’t…’ Seen him? ‘No.’ Well he’s very good. ‘I see, yes, sorry to bother you.’ Easy mistake to make, have a great night.
