It’s not often that a polar bear is seen in the UK but last weekend there were sightings of Bjorn the Polar Bear at North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe. As you might expect, vast crowds of all ages came to the open event to meet this Arctic creature and they were extremely happy to meet his handler, an Arctic conservationist companion, who dispensed facts about Bjorn including his diet, habitat and more.
Bjorn the Polar Bear is one of our most popular Christmas acts and it isn’t hard to see why. How often do guests get to greet a polar bear? Bjorn is of course not a real polar bear in the traditional sense, but an animatronic polar bear that mirrors all of the actions of the real thing. He walks, moves his head in response to touches and strokes from children and his eyes even blink! Although technically he is controlled by a skilled puppeteer, we prefer to think of him as real and this is certainly true if you use your imagination!
An informal and fully interactive show for all to enjoy, it was clear from the delight of the crowd that Bjorn the Polar Bear was a huge hit and the children in the audience were all desperate to be in a photo with their new furry best friend.
As Bjorn’s Arctic conservation companion explained how Bjorn survives in the sub-zero temperatures, it was an educational visit as well as a fun one and we thank North Lindsey College for offering this opportunity for the children of Scunthorpe to learn a thing or two about an animal they may not ordinarily meet.
A lovely event and one that, as you can see from the photos, really was a huge hit, we highly recommend booking Bjorn for your next event. Perfect for winter-themed events, corporate functions and more, Bjorn is always guaranteed to please. For more information and to book, please get in touch using the contact details below.
