Aerial Silk & Fireflies @ DoubleTree by Hilton Hull

There is something beautiful about Aerial Silk Artists and the Fireflies that combining them for the Doubletree by Hilton opening in Hull was a dream come true. Our client wanted a whole host of entertainment options to truly blow their guests away and so it was that we helped make it a night to remember for all concerned. Photos by the excellent Insight Photography.

Kicking off the evening in some style were the Fireflies, LED ballerinas that look absolutely stunning no matter the event. Ballet as an entertainment form has been around for hundreds of years and has entertained millions around the world, but the simple addition of LEDs into their leotards and tutus to help create something truly magical and bring the act into the 21st century. Performing to an accompaniment from an electric cello, the result was a perfect background accompaniment for the occasion.

After a background performance, the dance floor was duly cleared for a choreographed dance from the Fireflies and cellist. As the photos show, it was an astonishingly beautiful performance that just goes to show the versatility of dance at an event. With guests still visibly stunned by the display, we decided to take things one step further by booking two aerial silk artists to descend from the ceiling and perform acrobatics from the air! Although the photographs capture the effortlessness of the act, it is hard to put into words just how elegant this circus act really is and we highly recommend booking aerial silk artists for your next event so that you don’t miss out!

After the spectacular opening, guests were invited to sit at their respective tables and listen to the host for the evening, Gethin Jones. Just as charismatic in person as he is on the television – perhaps more so! – he brought the house down with some charming anecdotes and celebratory quips before introducing some professional ballroom dancers to the floor. Strictly Come Dancing eat your heart out! Well, in truth the dancers were straight from Strictly; the wonderful Oti Mabuse and Kevin Clifton. The fancy dancing was then followed up by a not-quite-so-fancy ‘dance-off’, which made for hilarious watching!

Drawing the evening to a close were The Tzars, rock and roll function band royalty who not only look the part but also sound the part! Able to play a vast repertoire that includes classics from yesteryear and modern pop hits, they really are the complete package and by the time we left, we are fairly confident we had seen the vast majority of attendees dancing at one point or another. There’s nothing like singing ‘Mr Brightside’ at the top of your lungs!

The evening was rounded off by having Organic Jam perform at the after party. Playing music in a Café-del-Mar style, the act for the night comprised of DJ, sax and percussion and was just the right sort of entertainment for that part of the night when everything is slowing down but people still want to dance, chat and have some fun (mobile phone photos only, we are afraid!)

All in all, this was an excellent evening and we were so proud to be a part of it. We can’t wait for the DoubleTree by Hilton to become a must book venue in Hull and from an entertainment point of view, we are tremendously excited to see what the future holds for its function rooms.
