Last Minute Christmas Party Ideas

We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but if you’re reading this in late November and you still haven’t booked your Christmas party entertainment, then you’re a little behind schedule. As it gets closer to Christmas, many of the most popular Christmas-themed entertainers’ diaries start to fill up, making it a challenge to get hold of perennial favourites like Christmas carolers and that all-important Santa Claus.

But thankfully, not all hope is lost for any Christmas party slowpokes out there; there are still plenty of ways to make a Christmas party a success even at the last minute. Even more thankfully, we’re going to share a few with you today.

RAID THE COSTUME CLOSET

So it’s December and every Santa outfit in the UK has been booked from now until New Year. But just because you can’t get hold of ol’ St Nick doesn’t mean you can’t add some Christmas spirit through some other costumes. From Nutcracker-style toy soldiers to Dickensian street urchins, frost-bitten arctic explorers to candy striped living tables, there are lots of costumes out there that aren’t necessarily Christmas costumes, but can add to a Christmas event theme. Try to think of creative ways you can work non-Christmas costumes into your event, and if you’re short of ideas, give us a call!

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

We’ve all been to our share of ‘Winter Wonderland’ Christmas parties, so why fall back on the old cliches every year? Sometimes it pays to think outside the box a little when it comes to your Christmas party theme. Instead of cosy ski lodges and North Pole toy factories, consider themes that won’t be in quite so high demand; what about turning your event into a beach for an Australian-style Christmas, or a colourful night at the Circus? Don’t feel constrained by the season when it comes to picking a theme for the night.

CHECK YOUR BAND’S REPERTOIRE

The great thing about Christmas music is; a little goes a long way. Much as we love Christmas tunes, no one wants to spend an entire evening listening to nothing but festive hits; a simple smattering of seasonal songs is all it takes to make a setlist feel like Christmas. It’s worth asking any band or ensemble you book if they know any Christmas songs to slot into their sets – most musicians worth their salt will have been working on a few classics ready for party season.

ASK YOUR AGENCY

As entertainment suppliers, we’re always on the lookout for new and exciting acts so that we can offer the best choice to our clients. That also means that when Christmas party season comes, we’ve got a Rolodex bursting with amazing performers to make sure that we never run out of suggestions even when diaries start filling up. We’re in constant touch with the best acts in the country and we know who’s likely to be available, so save yourself the furious googling and frantic phone calls, and leave the entertainment to us.

That’s just a few ideas to help you rescue your Christmas party this year. Get in touch if you’d like to find out more, and keep an eye on our Twitter feed for more entertainment ideas and inspiration.
